On my art blog the average visits per day passed lately from 15 to 21 visits per day, I think, and this is just an observation, that this is because I’ve added meta tags in my blog template (Blogger template), thanks to these meta tags my rankings in Google are better, well I am talking only about google because I am not a professional SEO specialist (Search engine Optimisation specialist) so I am just tracking the referrals page on my sitemeter account.
For those who are interested I’ll explain later how I searched for my most effective keywords that people typed in search engines and ended up on my blog, using sitemeter.
So before adding the meta tags in your blogger template you must prepare the following:
1- Keywords : you must use the most targeted keywords you can come up with in your keyword tag, for example if you are blogging about or selling paintings in oil, then your keyword should be “Oil paintings” rather than just “paintings”, the more your keywords are targeted the more they are effective in bringing traffic, for example a person who is typing “paintings” could be looking for watercolor paintings could lend in useless traffic.
2- Description : you can use your important keyword in phrases and insert them in your Meta description tag, the text in the meta description tag will change the description in the search engine results pages (SERP),

Although some people think that meta description tags do not affect search engine rankings, I think that if the description is interesting for the searcher on the result page he or she will click on your link, which could increase valuable targeted traffic.
3- Title: the title tag is very important because the title tag appears at the very top of the head part. The words in the title tag will appear in the clickable link on the search engine results page (SERP). So naturally your title tag must be attractive in order to attract people, and must also contain your most important keywords that reflects the subject of the page.
Log-in to your Blogger account, and once you are on the Dashboard of your Blog, click on layout, then on Edit html then you can insert your meta tags just below the tag as shown below, then once you are finished don’t forget to save the modifications you have made to your template.
XHTML tags have to be in lower case alphabets. See the last sentence atCommon HTML Validation Problems. Also, HTML tags normally comes in pairs, opening and closing tags. A few tags like the HTML for displaying images (img) and (meta) doesn't need a closing tag.
